The 1.2kW Fresnel Flicker Free light gives you a reasonable amount of output without drawing too much current, you can run one of these on a normal house circuit without worrying. This is a compact 1.2 with a relatively small Fresnel lens. It can be used direct if you want stronger shadows or diffused through a trace frame or just diffusion. It has a flicker free dimmable electronic ballast.
