Sony FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G

£60.00

The Sony FE 8-14mm f/3.5 Fisheye G is Sony's first-ever native full-frame mirrorless fisheye lens, combining an ultra-wide zoom range with compact, professional-grade construction

At the 8mm End: Circular Coverage

  • What you see: A completely circular image right in the middle of your frame, surrounded by a solid black border.

  • How it covers the sensor: The lens project a smaller 180° image circle that only touches the top and bottom edges of a full-frame sensor. It leaves the left, right, and corners entirely unexposed (blacked out). [1, 2]

At the 14mm End: Diagonal Coverage

  • What you see: A completely filled rectangular image with no black vignetting, though it still has massive fisheye distortion.

  • How it covers the sensor: As you zoom out to 14mm, the image circle physically expands until it completely covers all four corners of the full-frame sensor

What happens in the middle?

The focal lengths between 9mm and 13mm are essentially a vignetting transition phase. The image circle is too big to be a clean circle, but too small to fill the corners, resulting in messy, dark, clipped corners.
